Because of the low content in tungsten concentrate, it needs to be enrichment select, so that can be raw material for metallurgy. Tungsten ore can be divided by ore type into tungsten concentrate and tungsten scheelite. Tungsten concentrate is Chinese main exploration object, accounts for 90% min of the total ores. Therefore, in tungsten mines, tungsten concentrate mine consist of 37 in 43 mines.
Tungsten ore selection methods are mainly hand picking, heavy medium separation, gravity separation, flotation, magnetic separation and electric separation. Tungsten concentrate uses gravity separation, and scheelite flotation selection. In China, tungsten concentrate mines are mostly simple mixed ore types, but scheelite is complicated.
Regularly, now what manufactured in China, the WO3 content is over 65%. Under pyrometallurgy, ferro tungsten can be made and its tungsten content is always over 70% or 75%. Differently, sodium tungstate, ammonium paratungstate, or tungsten oxide, and tungsten powder can be made by method of smelting.
